Comprised of the heirs and business colleagues of our founder, our leadership team works closely with senior managers across all the Van Metre business lines to ensure optimal results for our employees, our investors, and the residents of our hometown. We do so to maintain the reputation so carefully established over our more than 60 years of service to the greater Washington DC area.
Mike Barrett joined the Van Metre Companies in 2004 and oversees the Van Metre Investment Properties portfolio, which includes multifamily apartment communities, as well as commercial office and retail properties, located in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC and Orlando, Florida. Mike brings 22 years of property management experience to Van Metre. Prior to joining Van Metre, Mike worked for Charles E. Smith as Director of Financial Reporting and Asset Management. Mike sits on the board of the Property Management Association and is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council.
Glen Skutnik joined the Van Metre Companies in 2013 and brings over 16 years of industry experience. As the Executive Vice President he oversees the Residential and Commercial Operations for the Investment Properties Division along with the Marketing and Facilities Departments. Additionally, he serves as the President of the Van Metre Companies Foundation, which is a committee responsible for all philanthropic efforts of the organization. His market experience is in Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Florida and New Jersey.
Glen is a Certified Property Manager (CPM), Accredited Residential Manager (ARM), Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) and Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM). He also holds the Executive Accredited Management Organization (AMO) designation for Van Metre Companies. He sat on the Executive Council for The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) in Northern, VA, where he served for several years.
Mary Hasty joined the Van Metre Companies in 2005 and brings with her over 20 years of experience. Prior to joining Van Metre, she worked for Gables Residential as a Regional Manager. Mary is a Certified Apartment Manager, CAM; a member of the Property Management Association as well as AOBA.
Well-versed in the Washington Metropolitan Region real estate market, Courtney Alford has more than 15 years of comprehensive industry experience. Her expertise in multifamily housing, strategic planning, and asset acquisition optimization has made her an invaluable part of our team. She is actively involved in the National Multifamily Housing Council, National Apartment Association, and other industry groups. Courtney joined Van Metre in 2016 after a seven-year stint at Kettler Real Estate where she served as Client Services Manager.
Ty Hausch joined Van Metre Companies in May 2004 and oversees all aspects of the leasing and sales of the company’s commercial portfolio, including existing retail, office and industrial properties owned by Van Metre and third party clients, plus roughly 1.1 million square feet of undeveloped land. He is also the principal real estate broker for Van Metre in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), and an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Ty was a CPA with Arthur Andersen before working as Director of Acquisitions at Combined Properties for over a decade.
Harry J. Carter Jr joined Van Metre Companies in 2014 and oversees the Facilities Management department of the Van Metre Investment Properties division. Harry brings over 20 years of industry experience with extensive involvement with capital projects in high-rise buildings in the DC market. Harry is a member of the Property Management Association and is an EPA Proctor.
Alexis Tsonos joined Van Metre Companies in 2006 and oversees the sales, marketing, training, and corporate housing programs in the Washington, DC Metro area. Alexis is a member of the Property Management Association, sitting on the PACE committee; and a member of the ApartmentList DC Advisory Council.
Mike Dunleavy joined Van Metre in 2018 and is responsible for directing the accounting and financial operations of Van Metre Investment Properties. Prior to joining Van Metre, Mike provided CFO advisory services to mid-sized companies and technology start-ups while at Capital CFO LLC. As an Audit Manager for KPMG, he specialized in the Real Estate and Private Equity sectors. Mike is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated from Virginia Tech with a Masters of Accountancy in Financial Services. Mike is active in the retail real estate space in DC/Baltimore as a multi-unit investor & developer for the Pure Barre and Row House boutique fitness studio brands.
